Being initially attracted by the shadows on trees she spotted in the grass, she did a lot of delving into a technique thatconversely did not convey the selected subject as a 2-dimensional representation on canvas. Rather the subject is transformed into a re-creation of itself, where the surface transforms into the medium for it's personal interpretation by painting, particularly when the subjects are alive or perishable for example, like humans or fruits. Alexa Meade's paintings are ephemeral, but the photo is what is left. Trompe l'oeil is achieved by combining the two techniques of photography and painting. The result is an unflattened and two-dimensional image. Meade has also integrated her model paintings into the space of 3D that surrounds the models. Their interaction as well as the world they created can be achieved. The line that separates painting and photography is removed.
